A New Pitch for 2016

By Mike Moore

A new year brings new opportunities for success, and 2016 is no exception - especially when it comes to sales. Now is the perfect time to give your sales pitch a much needed update.

Here are three foundational changes that, from my experience, you can make to your sales pitch to improve your numbers for 2016.

1. Freshen up your intro
The intro is probably the most important part of your entire pitch. It should hook the listener and get them interested in what you have to say, otherwise they'll stop listening - especially if you're seeing repeat customers.

2. Recap the previous year
Convey your enthusiasm and initiative about a point in your pitch by giving a brief recap of what you were able to accomplish in 2015. For example, you could talk about how you're excited for 2016 because you helped hundreds of customers upgrade to smart thermostats last year. Use the previous year as a launch pad for you to communicate your goals in a way that impresses your customer and encourages them to do business with you.

3. Update your call to action
Consider the goals you've set for the year. Maybe you're looking to get more survey responses, or you want to increase sales through email correspondence - whatever it is that you're working toward, include it in your closing as an additional call to action.
