Marshalltown Tornado Update

As many of you know, our manufacturing facility in Marshalltown, Iowa was damaged by a tornado. Our first priority was to ensure the safety of our employees and we are pleased to announce that there were no reported injuries. As we look forward, our key priorities remain:

  • Support our employees and the Marshalltown community
  • Execute the business
    • Restore our factory operations
    • Minimize market disruptions and support our customers

In support of the first priority to support our employees and the Marshalltown community, Lennox announced a commitment to donate $500,000 to various charities in and around Marshalltown, Iowa to help the community recover in the wake of a tornado that devastated parts of the town on July 19. The $500,000 donation includes the company’s commitment to match charitable contributions to the Marshalltown Area United Way made by its employees, retirees, dealers, and suppliers.

Our focus has been to ensure the safety of our employees, assess damage to the facility, and implement plans to minimize the impact to our customers. A team of hundreds of recovery professionals is on site, executing a pre-planned recovery strategy with the goal of returning the factory to full operations as quickly as possible. Limited operations will resume soon in safe areas of the factory, but full production will not be restored for some time.

Our next priority is ensuring an uninterrupted supply of products. While we’re working to restore operations in Marshalltown, we will produce the products you need in our four other North American factories. Ensuring supply will likely require some temporary variations, such as materials or product substitutions. We are committed to providing high-quality, high-performing equipment that meets customers’ expectations. We will share more specifics next week as we finalize our plans. Although we are faced with this challenge, Lennox has always been a company that prides itself on its innovation and this will be the case as we work to restore operations. Difficult times sometimes yield the most innovative solutions.
