The economy has picked up, but have your HVAC sales skills risen to the challenge?

One might think that a better economy makes the sales job easier, but that's simply not true. The economy dictates the next challenge.

Invest Time in Answering Questions

We've all spent time with salespeople in our lives - which are the ones that we remember? I remember the salesperson who took the time to answer my questions, and those who were knowledgeable about their craft. Know your stuff and don't get in such a hurry that you miss the bonding time.

Don't Get Caught Being Lazy

A salesperson with "15 years of experience" is not necessarily one with the sharpest skills or the most up to date. Keep yourself hungry for knowledge and ask your boss for more classroom time. A good rule of thumb I use is 80/20, with 20 percent being allotted for new learnings.

Sell Through Rain or Shine

Traits of successful HVAC salespeople include those who have no excuses. Even when the economy was down, these people still hit the ground running everyday. Don't make yourself a charity case. Do something about it!
