You've probably heard the famous quote from Steve Jobs, "Stay hungry. Stay foolish."
And there's good reason, you as a technician, can't become the best without becoming better. Of course you want to be best, if not, what are you working for?
Let me tell you why you should be excited about training.
You can only go up
The most obvious reason to be excited about training is that it advances your skills and your knowledge. Technicians that have more skills and better knowledge can perform faster and more efficiently.
That leads to better service, which hopefully leads to more customers, which should lead to better business and, ultimately, financial success.
But wait, what's that you say, you're just a technician? Well, better technicians perform better, which can lead to more money, but it starts with effective training.
Training is proactive not reactive
Regular training means that you're staying up-to-date with industry standards.
Staying in the game is a plus for any technician, and showing a desire to go beyond the standard know-how is the attitude of a game changer.
By training regularly you'll be in-the-know when you want to be, rather than catching up.
Have you ever had a customer ask you a question that you didn't know the answer to? It's a tough position because the customer expects you to be an expert and training can help prevent those awkward situations.
What's your motivation to train?
